Press Release: ANGUILLA, BRITISH WEST INDIES, Wednesday, 30th September, 2009
A delegation of seven (7) Accommodation members from the AHTA, including Mrs. Sherille Hughes, President of the Anguilla Hotel and Tourism Association, and 3rd Vice President of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association, will travel St. Thomas this week, to participate in the Small Hotels’ Retreat which is hosted by the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Organization.
The retreat, which is being held at the Frenchman’s Reef Hotel, is scheduled from Wednesday September 30th to Friday October 2nd, 2009.
The companies that will be in attendance are Sunset Homes, Allamanda Hotel, The Anguilla Great House, Paradise Cove, and Carimar Beach Club, providing a strong representation from Anguilla. Ms. Kay Ferguson, Executive Director of the Anguilla Hotel and Tourism, will also represent Anguilla, at the Executive Directors’ meetings which will be held at the retreat.
The goal of the retreat is to facilitate the exchange of ideas in the areas of Property Marketing and Operations, among small hotel properties in the region. The program includes a series of practical learning sessions and round table discussions geared at hotel managers and front line employees.
A snapshot of the program features: Promoting Business and Service Excellence, Effective Hospitality Public Relations, Save Money by Going Green, Energy Management, Social Media for Small Hotels and other current topics.
The retreat also offers the opportunity to participate in a mini trade show, where the properties can meet and discuss their various needs with vendors specializing specifically in catering to smaller hotels.
This endeavour is particularly welcome as Anguilla’s properties seek new ideas and opportunities, to combat the global economic travels affecting the travel industry.
